At Parrett and Axe CE VA Primary School, we want every child to enjoy learning languages and feel confident as young linguists. In Key Stage Two, we teach French through fun and engaging lessons where children get plenty of opportunities to listen, speak, read, and start writing in French.

Our aim is to spark curiosity, build confidence, and give pupils a strong foundation for language learning as they move on to secondary school. We follow the PlanIt Scheme, which uses exciting topics and a clear sequence of lessons to make sure skills develop step by step and children build on what they’ve learned each year.

It sets out a clear sequence of skills and knowledge from Year 3 to Year 6, ensuring pupils meet and exceed the National Curriculum expectations for Key Stage 2 languages.
