We are delighted to announce that Parrett & Axe CE VA Primary School has officially joined the Print Pledge!
What is the Print Pledge?
The Print Pledge is an environmental commitment made by schools (and other organisations) to reduce unnecessary printing, use paper responsibly, and promote sustainable printing practices. By signing up, we pledge to:
-
Print only when necessary
-
Use double-sided printing where possible
-
Choose recycled or sustainably sourced paper
-
Reuse paper where possible (e.g. for drafts)
-
Raise awareness among staff and pupils about responsible printing
Why We’re Doing It
At Parrett & Axe, joining the Print Pledge is one practical way we can live out our commitment to stewardship, responsibility, and respect for the world around us.
Moreover:
-
It helps reduce our environmental footprint
-
It saves resources and school budget over time
-
It sets a positive example for pupils in developing sustainable habits
What This Means Day-to-Day
-
Teachers and staff will be encouraged to review documents before printing and consider digital alternatives
-
Any necessary printing for pupils will, where possible, follow the guidelines (double-sided, minimal margins)
-
Pupils will learn about the importance of sustainable resource use as part of our curriculum
How You Can Help
We hope that parents, carers, and the wider community will support us by:
-
Understanding that some notices or forms may be shared digitally instead of printed
-
Providing feedback to help us improve our approach
We believe that even small changes matter when added together. By making conscious choices about printing, we can play our part in protecting the planet and teaching responsible citizenship to our pupils.
