Year 5 Go Sailing

Our Year 5 pupils had a fantastic opportunity to spend the day sailing at the Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre in Portland.

The children took to the water with great enthusiasm, learning the basics of sailing under the guidance of experienced instructors. They developed new skills in teamwork, communication, and resilience – as well as enjoying the thrill of being out on the water.

For many, this was their first time sailing, and it was wonderful to see their confidence grow as the day went on. From mastering steering to balancing in the boat, the children showed determination, courage, and plenty of smiles!

This memorable experience was not only about fun and adventure but also about building independence and encouraging our pupils to try something new. A huge thank you goes to the staff at Andrew Simpson Watersports Centre for making the day so special, and to our school staff for supporting the children so brilliantly throughout.

We are very proud of our Year 5 class for embracing this challenge and making the most of such a unique learning opportunity.
