Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Parrett & Axe Church of England VA Primary School, we are committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment where every child can achieve their full potential. We recognise that some pupils may need additional support to access the curriculum, and we work closely with families and professionals to ensure that these needs are met.

Our Approach

• We aim to identify any special educational needs or disabilities as early as possible.

• Support is tailored to each child, whether through classroom strategies, small group work, or individual interventions.

• We encourage open communication with parents and carers, valuing your input and working in partnership to support your child’s learning journey.

• All staff are committed to ensuring that children with SEND feel included, valued, and confident within our school community.

The SENDCo

Our school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) is: Mr Stuart Copping

The SENDCo works with teachers, support staff, parents, and external professionals to coordinate provision and monitor progress.

Support and Provision

We provide support for children with a range of needs, including:

• Communication and interaction

• Cognition and learning

• Social, emotional and mental health

• Sensory and/or physical needs

Our provision may include:

• Differentiated teaching strategies in class

• Additional adult support where appropriate

• Small group or one-to-one interventions

• Advice and guidance from external specialists
